Mummy Mugshot #32 – Ice Cream Farm Fun at @BackfordBelles

You might have noticed that Mummy Mugshot is late this week.  Pooh Bear was ill over the weekend and still isn’t quite back to his cheeky self and missed his treat to see ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ but we did manage a trip to our local ice cream farm, Backford Belles.

We’ve actually been to the ice cream farm two weekends on the run now as it’s a lovely place to enjoy time together AND eat the delicious ice cream which is made from Jersey cow’s milk.

Last week was a bit dreary…

But this weekend the sun came out…

As you can see, both boys were worn out by the time we got home and in desperate need of Mummy cuddles…

The ice cream farm offers simple fun for families with a couple of little pedal tractors, a football and goal, two swings, a handful of animals and the main attraction, the ice cream.  So far we’ve tried the following flavours between us…

Snickie (think Snickers),
Mint Choc,
Strawberry,
Sticky Toffee Fudge, Raspberry Sorbet and
Lemon Sorbet.

We’re aiming to try all the flavours before Summer is out.

Mummy Mugshot #31 – One from the Archives

This week I have been run off my feet with blog posts and although we’ve been busy with activities for the boys too, I’ve not featured in any photos.  Not wanting to miss out on this wee’s Mummy Mugshot, I have been delving into the archives which was fun actually…

wedding pic

Here we are on our wedding day enjoying the first dance with Spud who I think is on his fourth outfit.  You can feel the love in the room in this pic.  I miss Spud being so little.  Lovely.

Looking back at the photos of our big day, I want to do it all again.  Wonder if I can convince Scatty Dad to renew our vows soon ;)

Mummy Mugshot #29 – Spud and Me

We’ve had a lovely Bank Holiday and spent lots of time enjoying the gorgeous May weather but haven’t taken any photos of me with the boys.  Since last week was all about Pooh Bear, I thought Spud could feature in this week’s.

image

Spud is at an age where he has us in stitches one minute and pulling our hair out the next.  The terrible twos arrived late in our house and I personally think three year olds are more taxing.  Spud hates coming in from the garden in the evening for bedtime but yesterday I had some help.  After telling him he had ten minutes of play time left and then him refusing to come in, he surprisingly appeared at the back door…

“Mummy, I’m scared” he whispered.

All sorts of scenarios were running through my head including an uninvited guest…

“What are you scared of little man?”

“A spider”

“Oh, you’re not scared of spiders. We like spiders because they eat yucky flies”

“This one is a big one”

Bless him.  I’m not bothered by spiders so I don’t know why this one made such an impression but he didn’t seem bothered by it the next morning thankfully.

Mummy Mugshot #26 – Blogging can Wait

For the past week or so I’ve just felt ready to drop once the boys are in bed so my blog to-do list is growing ever longer.  If you don’t blog you won’t realise how much work it can be keeping your blog going and interacting with readers and other bloggers.  It’s not just about writing a post.  Sometimes there’s research to be done and supporting links to find.  Every time there are endless social media platforms to promote your post and interact with others on.  There’s emails to respond to, photos to edit and before you know it the hour you planned to spend online has turned into two or more.

I don’t want to sound like I’m moaning. I enjoy blogging but it is much more work than you might think and for some it is actually a full time job! Blogging has opened my eyes to so much and the communities you meet through linkies, blogger groups online and campaigns is mostly uplifting.

Last night I sat down to finally write a post I’d promised for another site but Pooh Bear had other ideas…

After ten minutes typing, I gave in and closed our ailing laptop.

There’s always tomorrow.

Stay at Home Mum – In Training has linked up again this week and I found it difficult to spot her in the photo as she looks so youthful and Bibsey Mama has been letting go and having a lovely time painting with Bibsey so please pop over and have a read.

Mummy Mugshot #25 – In the Park

Yesterday we went to the Jubilee Field which is not far from my parents house. When I was little it had a huge climbing frame made from scaffolding poles and I always remember how cold it felt on your hands.

More recently it was un-loved and barely used until last year when it was revamped and given new life.

We’ve been a few times since the revamp and there has been no less than ten families each time. It really has been a successful project and has lots for children of all ages which is great. So many play areas cater for younger OR older children but not both.

The boys and us adults had a lovely time…

This is the original slide which seemed much bigger to me as a school child!

The equipment is great for little ones and older ones ;)

The boys were so cute on the spinning dish doodah and were singing to each other and cuddling :)

I took so many photos today I almost forgot to feature in any. Like my bandy legs on the death slide? Or how about the rope swing no-one else wanted a go on which made me a little sea-sick!

Bibsey Mama has joined up again this week with a really heart-warming hug of a post.
