Mummy Mugshot #34 – Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

OMG! I have just realised I missed last week’s Mummy Mugshot. We were enjoying a lovely week on Anglesey in North Wales and I thought this post had published but the internet connection was sporadic and it obviously failed to publish.

Ho hum, such are the trials of blogging on the go.

The weather was gorgeous when we arrived and we spent Sunday morning on the beach at Cemaes Bay, a five minute walk from our holiday home.

image

The views on Anglesey are really beautiful and Cemaes Bay was no exception. Scatty Daddy was only with us a few days due to work commitments meaning he was away on Fathers’ Day too so it was really lovely having the nice weather whilst he was still with us. The boys absolutely love the beach AND ice cream so it doesn’t get much better than this…

image

Here are some more beach photos from later on in the week. You might notice it wasn’t quite as sunny but we still got out and had fun thanks to Granny and Grandad’s get up and go…

image

You might also notice Pooh Bear is trouser-less. Both boys had so much fun in the sea that they both needed a change of clothes and when we took their wellies off sea water poured out of them :D I think they’d gladly spend all day, whatever the weather, splashing about, digging and looking for crabs and jellyfish.

Whilst we were away we were lucky enough to be invited to carry out a couple of reviews of some local days out by ‘Attractions of Snowdonia‘ so look out for reviews of Greenwood Forest Park and Anglesey Sea Zoo later this week.

If you’re wondering what the idea is behind Mummy Mugshot then ‘Introducing Mummy Mugshot‘ should explain more. If you would like to join in with Mummy Mugshot then please grab my badge and leave a comment with your link so I can add it to the body of this post.

Wigwam Bam!

The Wigwam is up and we’re just waiting for the sweet peas to grow. A lot.

image

This photo was actually taken a few weeks ago and the sweet peas have made steady progress since then (despite the onslaught of ravenous slugs).

Sorry it’s such a short post for Country Kids this week and I’m still catching up on commenting on everyone else’s posts from last week. I can’t recommend popping over to Coombe Mill‘s #CountryKids enough as it’s really inspired me to get out more with the boys (especially in bad weather) and there are always some great ideas for outdoor activities and recommendations on fun places to go too.

Mummy Mugshot #33 – Nee Naw, Nee Naw

This half term has been lovely and despite a chill wind the sun has been shining so we’ve been able to get out and about and enjoy ourselves.

On Saturday we went to Chester Fire Station’s open day.  The boys were greeted with a free ice cream so it was the perfect start to a perfect afternoon.

Cheshire Fire Service and Cheshire Police were brilliant with my little men and made it really enjoyable.

Pooh Bear had the time of his life ‘driving’.

Did you have a lovely half term?

Mummy Mugshot #32 – Ice Cream Farm Fun at @BackfordBelles

You might have noticed that Mummy Mugshot is late this week.  Pooh Bear was ill over the weekend and still isn’t quite back to his cheeky self and missed his treat to see ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ but we did manage a trip to our local ice cream farm, Backford Belles.

We’ve actually been to the ice cream farm two weekends on the run now as it’s a lovely place to enjoy time together AND eat the delicious ice cream which is made from Jersey cow’s milk.

Last week was a bit dreary…

image

But this weekend the sun came out…

image

As you can see, both boys were worn out by the time we got home and in desperate need of Mummy cuddles…

image

The ice cream farm offers simple fun for families with a couple of little pedal tractors, a football and goal, two swings, a handful of animals and the main attraction, the ice cream.  So far we’ve tried the following flavours between us…

Snickie (think Snickers),
Mint Choc,
Strawberry,
Sticky Toffee Fudge, Raspberry Sorbet and
Lemon Sorbet.

We’re aiming to try all the flavours before Summer is out.

Please pop over to ‘Introducing Mummy Mugshot‘ to find out why I’m trying to get in the picture with my boys and if you would like to join in with Mummy Mugshot then please grab my badge and leave a comment with your link so I can add it to the body of this post.

We finally started the Wigwam with the help of Seedlets.

Spud has had a bit of a dicky tummy this week meaning that he’s been off pre-school which I’ve actually enjoyed since Scatty Dad has been off and the sun has been shining too.

Unfortunately the sun stopped shining on Friday and rain was threatening but it was the only day we were able to get to the garden centre to spend our vouchers on the bits and bobs for the wigwam I mentioned in an last week’s #CountryKids.

Earlier in the week we had an exciting parcel full of Seedlets products to review. Keep reading the blog next week to see us sow the Seedlets Rocket seeds in a future post…

image

Spud was so excited by the gloves he had to wear them to the garden centre and Pooh Bear was brandishing the trowel, spade AND rake as he scuttled down the aisles.

image

Yes, even superheroes do gardening.

Shortly after this photo was taken Pooh Bear went for a nap so Spud and I decided to make a start before the rain came.

We had bought ten sweet pea plants and marked out the circle of the wigwam leaving a larger gap for the entrance…

image

Using the seedlets spade, Spud got busy making the initial holes I’d dug bigger…

image

Before we finished bedding the plants Pooh Bear awoke and made a beeline for the sweet peas already in the ground! Luckily he didn’t manage to dig any up before I stopped him and really enjoyed helping out bless him.

image

That’s as far as we got today but you can check back soon to see the canes being erected and the wigwam hopefully taking shape.

image

The Seedlets tools are really fun and the boys loved having their own to join in with. They’re really colourful and very easy to clean. We were also sent some Seedlets Rocket seeds which we’ll be planting next week too. The idea behind the Seedlets range is to encourage children and their families to grow food you can eat and you can find more information on the Seedlets website where Chris Collins, the Blue Peter gardener has lots of hints, tips and projects for you to enjoy.

After today, I’ll definitely be doing more gardening with the boys since they were both really in to it and it’ll be lovely to see the sweet peas grow. I chose sweet peas as they remind me of my granny who grew them and always had a little posey in the kitchen when they bloomed…I love the nostagic aroma :)

We’ve got some runner beans ordered too so will add them to the wigwam and will enjoy picking and eating them for tea.

Happily joining in with Coombe Mill‘s #CountryKids again this week so please pop over and see what everyone else has been up to.

***Disclosure*** We were sent the Seedlets products for the purposes of this review and as always our thoughts and opinions are 100% honest.
