The Hot Milk Eclipse Nursing Bra and BoobieMilk

Oo-er, I’ve been debating posting the following photo for a week now and have decided to take the plunge (no pun intended).  Here I am ‘modelling’ (and I use that word loosely) my new Hot Milk Eclipse Nursing Bra

image

can you see the fear in my eyes ;)

I wondered if I should really be parading around in my underwear for all the world to see but then it’s just a bra, people wear bikinis every day and I am just doing as I always would with a review and posting my own photos of the product in action.  Deciding not to over-think it I grabbed Scatty Dad and the camera and took a deep breath, put my shoulder first, hands on hips and ran it through PicsArt  ;)

So, putting aside the risk of dodgy comments and regrets, I’ll get on with the actual review…

The really, really lovely Karen from BoobieMilk sent me a couple of Hot Milk bras to try on.  After Pooh Bear was born, I was a mind-boggling Double F cup and since my supply has settled down, I am nowhere near that size any more.  If you have breastfed an older baby/toddler you will know that your breasts rarely feel full and they are now closer to my original size.  Having spoken to Karen about my need to get measured, I gave her a size guesstimate, she sent me a couple of sizes to try.

I’ll be honest , I’ve purposely avoided Hot Milk before now.  I’m more of a comfort over style lady so prefer joggers and Bridget Jones knickers to skinny jeans and thongs.

Why, oh why didn’t I give them a go sooner???

The Eclipse is really comfortable and pretty and I would highly recommend trying them out.  My usual nursing bras are Carriwell which I have also reviewed here and these are beyond comfortable and are great for when your bust size is fluctuating.  I can honestly say that the Eclipse is AS comfortable as my trusty Carriwells.

Like my Carriwell bras, the full cup of the Eclipse comes down for nursing but unlike my Carriwells, there is a piece of material which stays across your breast when the cup is down.   This didn’t hindered our nursing in any way.  The great thing is that there are plenty of back eye settings to allow for changes in weight and an expanding ribcage so you wouldn’t have any problems using it during pregnancy and after birth.

The bras are  pretty without being too fussy and none of the details cause any discomfort.  When you spend your life in baggy jeans and t-shirts/vest tops embellished with snot, slobber, puke and occasionally poo, a pretty bra beneath all that or for special occasions can give you that little lift.  We are Mums, partners and wives but we are also women who like to feel good about themselves even if it doesn’t happen quite as often as it used to.  We like to feel we are attractive to our partners and although breastfeeding isn’t sexy, it doesn’t mean we don’t want to feel sexy the rest (well some) of the time.

I was so pleased with mine, I proudly showed my support group last week and just as I finished flashing, Pooh Bear, who very rarely nurses out and about anymore but never one to pass up a nursing opportunity, waddled over and had a quick drink :D Cheeky monkey!

Would I recommend Hot Milk to other Mums – Yes.

Would I recommend BoobieMilk to anyone and everyone other Mums – Hell Yeah!

You can find info on measuring your bra size here and if you live in and around Sevenoaks, Kent you can contact Karen for an In-Home Fitting.  If you know a pregnant/breastfeeding lady and are looking for a lovely present, you could buy BoobieMilk gift vouchers which I would personally love ;)

If you sign up to the BoobieMilk newsletter, you will be the first to find out about competitions and discount codes and new blog posts which are always interesting and informative. Find them on Facebook and Twitter too.

If you head over to Facebook now, you still have time to enter the BoobieMilk competition to win some Hot Milk Lingerie - Be quick, you have until midnight on Saturday 26th January 2013 . The competition is open to entrants from UK, US & Europe.

I really wish I could wear the prettier nursing bra’s sadly I’m a J cup (well L in the one I wear…. Gulp!) so I’m really stuck with the one brand :(
I almost gave up breastfeeding early through vanity for none droopy boobs & pretty bra’s. don’t worry I had a quiet word with myself about that one!

    • Oh so glad you stuck with it. Looks like there is a market for nicer nursing larger nursing bras. Perhaps I could start a customisation business??? A recent study actually showed that pregnancy not breastfeeding affects shape etc and that your skin will actually be in better shape because you have breastfed :) I’m just hoping when we stop that some fat will come back to mine but I am really thankful that through breastfeeding I’ve gained more body confidence and had considered breast augmentation (after completing my family) in the past which I would never consider now.

My husband assures me that my boobs look lovely but I’m not convinced – still waiting for that confidence to hit!
I have decided to keep going as long as B wants to nurse, although time will tell how long i actually do go, but my intention is to let her wean herself off the breast.
I love breastfeeding now, its possibly the only time apart from when she’s asleep that B is still and calm(ish!). Also I can eat lots of chocolate!

      • It’s lovely to have an appreciative hubby but unfortunately, we’re our own worse enemy when it comes to body confidence :) yes, think I’ve eaten my own body weight in chocolate since Pooh Bear was born (in addition to fruit & veg ;) ) We are aiming for baby-led weaning too although I can’t imagine nursing him at 4 but a few years ago, I had no clue I’d be nursing at almost 2 so never say never!
