This week we have been keeping Pooh Bear clean with his gorgeous new Messy Me Tunic. We’ve been a bit lazy lately in covering him up when he eats since we embarked on baby led weaning and there are tell-tale stains on certain t-shirts! He’s actually pretty adept with a spoon and fork but there are some meals where his clothes definitely need protection.
We were sent ‘The Messy Tunic’ in Olive grey and it is adorable on. As with all the Messy Me range, the tunic is made from wipeable oil cloth. Compared to cheaper toddler bibs we have, this is made to a high quality and unlike the other bibs, it falls nicely when Pooh Bear is sitting at the table. It seems very comfortable to wear and although he was reluctant at first, as he is with all bibs, he was quite happy eating in it then running round like a maniac for half an our after once he left the table.
It doesn’t bunch up and get in the way when seated and the lack of arms isn’t a problem once sleeves are rolled up. I always find arms are difficult to get to fit properly on bibs so you end up folding them over and then they’re so big and bulky they drag in the food causing more mess! It is also long enough to catch any food falling on to his knees once sat down.
There is a generous strip of velcro at the back which is really practical and ensures the tunic stays put but is easy to get off without getting yourself covered in food/paint etc.
Now, we couldn’t review a tunic/bib without giving it the baked bean test. The instructions on the tunic say some foods may stain so to wipe them off as soon as possible and you can also wash sporadically at 30 degrees. We waited until Pooh Bear had finished his dinner before wiping the tunic clean and there was no trace of staining.

And here he is pointing at the floor (?) so you can see the tunic at full length.
Messy Me is a British family run business and all the products are made in the UK. I think it is important to try and support British business first and foremost and wherever possible.

The company was started by Mum of three, Helen and the range includes high chair covers which I think is a brilliant product. How many of you have high chairs with annoying nooks and crannies you can never seem to get all the food out of?
And if the pre-cut table/floor mats aren’t quite big enough for you, you can also buy the oil cloth in lengths for larger table/floor coverings. We’ve been looking for something to cover the boy’s Ikea table we bought from eBay a while ago and this is ideal.
You don’t have to only use Messy Me products when your little one is eating, they will protect surfaces from paint, pens, glue and glitter too ;)
In addition to the main website, which has a lovely feel to it (In fact, I would like to decorate our entire house based on the gorgeous calm colour scheme in this website) you can also find Messy Me on Facebook and Twitter.
Disclosure: We were sent a Messy Me Tunic for the purposes of this review but as always my thoughts and opinions are honest ones.
