I’m a little, well actually VERY excited to be hosting my very first (possibly my last) linky! I read an article in the Huffington Post this week from a Mum who was making an effort to feature in more photos with her children. I have thought about this a lot in the past.
I am always the one (no make-up, unbrushed hair, sleep deprived induced eye-bags) behind the camera whilst taking almost daily photos of my boys. I want my boys to look back over photos of their childhood and see me in the picture. I want them to know I was there making memories with them. I know I can tell them about the photo and what we were doing that day but it’s not the same as actually being pictured by their side and then when I’m no longer there to tell the stories, they can see how much I loved them when they were too young to remember.
It’s not always intentional that I don’t appear more often in photos. Being alone with the boys means it’s not always practical to get all of us in a photo together and Scatty Dad isn’t as keen a snapper as I am.
I am therefore making the Mummy Mugshot pledge:
From this day forward, I hereby promise that I will feature in at least one photo alongside my boys, once a week for the forseeable future. I will not worry about my hair, lack of make-up, whether my nose looks big or I have a million chins on show. I will suck up any self-criticism and smile like a trooper and pull tongues like a good ‘un.
My boys won’t look back at these photos in years to come and see my imperfections. They will just see their Mum. A little younger and perhaps thinner, with no grey hairs, looking a little more tired than I will in the future (with the exception of the day after the night before which I am sure will be happening more often in years to come).
Oo-er, I’m a little nervous about featuring so heavily on the blog from now on so I’m roping in any blogger (Mum, Dad or Grandparents welcome) who would also like an excuse to take more family photos. I will try and set a theme each week and if would like to know in advance what the theme will be, keep an eye out on Facebook and Twitter.
You will need to grab the Mummy Mugshot badge and ensure it links to this post.
and here’s the HTML code should you need it:
<a href=”http://lifeloveandlivingwithboys.wordpress.com/” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o228/kayteeroon/Life%20love%20and%20living%20with%20boys/mummymugshot3.jpg” alt=”mummymugshot3″ border=”0″ /></a>
I am proposing to set up a new linky/post every Monday but you can link up any day over the next week.

Mummy Mugshot was revamped at week #6 and I ditched the pre-set themes in favour of less structure and more freedom, man. Anything goes, old or new as long as Mum, Dad, Granny, Grandad, Aunty, Uncle etc feature.
Have a look at the little drop down menu at the top of this page to see past Mummy Mugshots.

ooohhh you brave brave woman you, but I think it is a brilliant idea, and as you say part of making memories
I know! I must be mad. Hopefully we’ll have some fun too and it might encourage me to brush my hair more often :D
I love this idea :) so much so you can sign me up .I am going to put up the badge now on my blog and spread the word. Because I have such an age gap between my little farmers it is the one thing I regret is that in 90 % of their childhood photo’s I am not in them with them ,I am the one taking the photo’s so for the littlest farmer that is going to change and maybe I will convince the older two to have the odd photo taken with their Mam still :)
Oooh brilliant! The first theme is ‘kisses’ and I’ll give you a nudge when my first post is up on Monday. Would be lovely if you could bribe your older ones to get in on the act too :)
The middle one I might but the older one I am not so sure :). I just tried the HTML code and when I put it in my text widget box it told me all the info was deleted by the owner ? Kisses thats a lovely one :). I am going to do a quick post on it now and maybe some more will give it a go as well , it’s a great idea .
Fab idea. I had to force the bloke to take some photos with me in while we were away as I had hundreds of him and Dylan and nothing to prove I was there!
LOL! It’s the same here and I don’t usually realise until it’s too late and we look back and there’s no trace of me!

Fabulous idea! What about dressing up for 117.12? A lot of kids have Christmas plays at that time.
Fabulous Idea! I will add it now. Thanks :)
Yes, to kisses, please. I love the Mummy Mugshot and I already did and submit mine.:)
I should have inform you earlier but I was a bit busy.
Thanks xx
Thanks so much for linking up. Your daughter is beyond gorgeous and so incredibly kissable.

Such a good idea! I am in precisely *counts on fingers* no photos with my kids any time in the last year. Or none that I have seen or approved of and deleted before they got ‘out there’. All I see is a disheveled woman who needs to wear more makeup. But I see that the kids won’t have photos of me with them in years to come. And that is sad. So I will take the pledge too :-)
It’s hard when Mums get zero time to spend on personal appearance 99% of the time but I’m actually enjoying it now I’ve got into the swing of things and I find the more natural the shot, the better you end up looking and feeling about the photos. Really looking forward to seeing your efforts in future :)
