I’ve written about reusable nappies before for National Real Nappy Week so I was very excited when Itti Bitti sent us some of their d’lish nappies to review with Pooh Bear.
We already have two-part reusable nappies which comprise of a fluffy inner nappy with a waterproof wrap outer so I was interested to compare the two types. The d’lish All In One is as the name suggests, ‘All in one’! The absorbent inner is sewn in to the fluffy outer so you wash it altogether which is really convenient and I found they dried quickly on the line or in the tumble dryer. They washed really easily and stayed fluffy and soft after washing thanks to the gorgeous bamboo layers. Other nappies we have (like most fans of the fluff, we have an array of different brands) aren’t as soft after washing so this was a really nice plus point of the d’lish.
We live in a material world but I confess that I usually go for comfort and value over fashion and style and these nappies are like supermodels of the real nappy world but at a great price. The brightly coloured fluff comes in a vast array of colours and patterns and you could spend all day choosing your favourite. There are colours for every occasion and I am proud to have Pooh Bear seen out in them minus trousers in the summer.
If you were that way inclined, you could match your itti bitti to your nail polish ;)
itti bitti use poppers instead of separate nappy fasteners which is another great feature. We had a recent incident when mid-nappy change I realised I hadn’t got a nappy fastener ready so went to the kitchen to get one. In the meantime, an absolute poo-tastrophe occurred in the living room. I won’t go in to the gory details but if I’d been using an itti bitti, it wouldn’t have happened. They are great for disorganised Mums like me and are also easy for other carers to use. I would highly recommend that when you buy and before you try any of the itti bitti range, that you watch the itti bitti YouTube videos on their channel or seek out a local nappy advisor.
The YouTube videos talk you through the different designs and also how to fit the nappies correctly to different sized babies. The first time we put a d’lish on Pooh Bear, it leaked after an hour from the tops of his legs. After watching the videos, I realise now that I hadn’t fitted it around his chunky thighs properly and should have folded the extra absorbent layer at the front of the nappy as instructed to do so for boys in the videos. The next time, leakage wasn’t a problem. The poppers also mean that the nappy grows with your baby.

You will find that most families who use real nappies will have a collection of different styles and makes of nappy and we are no different. Whenever there’s a sale on somewhere, we end up buying a few extra and trying out a new brand. The reason we didn’t opt for Itti Bitti initially is that the nappies are not the cheapest on the market. They are also not the most expensive and as far as the d’lish goes and I wish we’d have gone for an All In One nappy instead of the cheaper two-part nappies which don’t work out much cheaper when you consider the extra convenience and look of most All In One nappies.
A huge concern with real nappies was that they wouldn’t be as comfortable as the disposable alternative. As you can see from the following collage, the d’lish certainly passed the ‘digging test’ as pioneered by Pooh Bear. They don’t cut in to their tummy as perhaps expected and they certainly don’t slow Pooh Bear down.

Another consideration is whether the nappies fit under clothing and I have to say that this has been more difficult since Pooh Bear has a generous helping of gorgeous baby chub around his legs and bottom. The more active he has become, the less of a problem this has been and when shops don’t cater for real nappy bottoms, you can always opt for leg warmers or tights which you can now get in cool designs for boys too. I always find this is a comfier option for babywearing too.
itti bitti is available worldwide and can also be found on facebook and have lovely website where you can find lots of useful accessories in addition to the gorgeous nappies which come in a number of different designs depending on yours and your babies needs.

“Yes, Mum I know. I’m rocking this d’lish!”

I must say I haven’t really thought about cloth nappies because of the faff of washing them. Drying them would a nightmare I think and we do enough washing. I do get the merits of them though! I love the colours and your nail polish suggestion – could catch on! ha ha. Pooh Bear looks so adorable in the pictures x
They aren’t as much faff as you might think and way cheaper than disposables but you have to be committed to using them else they are a waste of time and money. As I also sell Avon, I could start marketing the nail varnish to match fluffy bottoms too! :D Was a bit disappointed he wouldn’t crack a smile but they came out cute anyway, thanks x
He looks adorable! I’ve always pondered over using reusable nappies but went for the convenience of disposable with my first. Whilst we’re waiting to conceive our second I’m investigating different options and I think I’ll put these at the top of my list. Great review, thanks!
It’s well worth seeing a nappy advisor to talk through options with you and perhaps buy a few different styles (can be the same brand) before settling on the type you prefer and which work best for you :)
